Loi @ 12 Months

She celebrated her first birthday at home although we did hold a birthday party for her the Saturday before. But they were all sick that day. And on her birthday, she has more or less recovered but her bro was down with lung infection and immunity is low. So we stayed at home. But Chubby and I decide that we will give her a replacement on her Chinese birthday as a compensation. Erm, but we have yet to think of what to do. 😛

Mastered Skills

  • Imitates others’ activities
She loves to “imitate” us in some sense. She will hold up the remote control and aim it at the TV (and just this morning, she manage to switch it on). She loves to take our “smart phones” and touch screen like how we play with it. And when she sees us clap or laugh, she will actually do the same.
  • Jabbers wordlike sounds
Yesterday I was reading a Chinese book to Zai and there is the word bubbles in Chinese. And Zai was repeating “泡泡”. And I thought I heard the girl repeat after Zai too. And it sounds really like “泡泡”.
  • Indicates wants with gestures
Well, when she wants to eat the food we are eating, she will crawl to us, pull our clothes and open her mouth. Is this considered?

Emerging Skills

  • Says one word besides “mama” and “dada”
Nope. She could barely says “mama” or “dada”
  • Takes a few steps.
Yes. But its difficult to get her to walk. She will tend to want to crawl.
  • Understands and responds to simple instructions
Well, sometimes when you ask her to clap she will do it. Or ask her to point to her nose or hair she will do it. But not always.

Advanced Skills

  • Scribbles with crayon
We have not let her done it yet. Cause she tends to put eveything into her mouth. So we dare not give her any thing that might be dangerous. I think we can wait to see how regarding this aspect.
  • Walks well
  • Says two words beside “mama” and “dada”
