Loi @ 11 Months

Mastered Skills

  • Says “dada” and “mama” to the right parent
Nope. What can I say, my kids are always slower in speech development.
  • Plays patty-cake
Nope. She don’t really understands rhythm as yet. I also realize that I hardly plays or read to her. Now that I have cut down my breastfeeding, I hope I have more time for her.
  • Stands alone for a couple of seconds
Nope. Unlike Zai she prefers to “walk” with assistance. She has been bugging us to hold her hands and walk. But she haven’t really try standing on her own. Whenever we try to make her stand she will immediately sit down. I think she is a lower risk taker than her bro.

Emerging Skills

  • Imitates others’ activities
Sometimes. When she sees us clap or waves bye bye she will follow.
  • Puts objects into a container
Yes. I have seen her putting the alphabets that Zai is playing back into the box. But after that she will pour everything out again.
  • Understands simple instructions
I’m not sure if this is counted. But when she hears us say “bye bye” she will automatically waves her hand. And when we say “no-no” she will put up her index finger and waves.

Advanced Skills

  • Drinks from a cup
She still uses her cup with a plastic spout. I realise that Zai can already drink from a straw at this stage. Maybe I should start her on it.
  • Says one word besides “mama” and “dada”
Like his bro it has got to be “MummMumm”.
  • Stoops from standing position
Not really. I have seen her attempting to stoop and pick up things from the floor but after bending a little she will just plop and sits down.

Her birthday celebration is in a few weeks time. I need to start planning now!

  1. Nice 🙂 What is “Plays patty-cake”? Mine only knows the song “Pat-a-cake” and stares at the screen.

Good reminder for me as well, to start planning for a party!

    1. Thanks Geraldine. What I read online is that the kid will actually clap to the rhythm of a rhyme. But I’m not sure if it is the “Pat-a-cake” rhyme or any rhyme.

But your baby is good that he knows the song already.

Great! Hope to read about the party when the time comes! 🙂
