I remember when I was young, there is this advertisement by “Scotts Cod Liver Oil”. The lyrics is this:
Now that I look at my son, I really can feel for the lyrics in the song. My son has grown so much in this 2 months. I wonder its because of school or because he is turning 2 soon.
Last year, around November, we were still a bit concern about the growth of his teeth. I mean he is more than 18 months but he only have 6 teeth. 2 on top and 4 below. My MIL keep asking us to check with the doctor to ensure that he is growing properly. But check with the docs say he is normal. And soon we saw his molar peering out from his gums in early Dec I think. And we were a little relieve. And guess what? Now its only the beginning of March, he has grown so much teeth. I think he is only missing two teeth at the top and his teeth growth would be complete. Its like so sudden. Chubby and I were thinking maybe its due to the more calcium intake. In the past, he only have 2 milk feeds. Once in the morning and once at night. But since he started school his milk intake doubled. He will have one feed in the afternoon before his nap and once in the evening while he waits for his dad to pick him up. So maybe these extra calcium helped in the growth. This is what we suspect.
Now that he has his teeth, he is more willing to give tougher meat a try. That day, Chubby ordered KFC for dinner. My MIL worried that Zai has nothing to eat has specially cooked dinner for him. Who knows when he saw Chubby eating the fried chicken, he actually asked for it by pointing to the box. I heard he pointed repeatedly but they didn’t get what he want. Until they put the box in front of him to let him pick and he took the drumstick. Chubby then proceed to peel off the skin and gave him the meat. And boy he enjoyed it and was sucking the bone even after he finish the meat.
Another growth that we see is in terms of his verbal. Suddenly these two weeks he is picking up lots of vocab from. He will sometime repeat the noun after we talk. Like that day he saw Chubby taking some ice cube out and he went to him with his cup. Chubby didn’t understand him so I asked Zai is it that he wanted some ice cube? He actually repeated “cube”. And there were other instances where he will just repeat some words. And yesterday he stands outside my SIL room and say “knock knock” and doing the knocking action the same time. I think the school taught him this. I’m happy that now his verbal skills is picking up. Previously my mum is a little worried that his speech will be slow cause he didn’t say much words. But it seems that our worries are unfounded.
On another note, I realise that I have little time every night to play with my boy. I guess maybe also because these few days I work a little later. So by the time I reach home, have dinner and settle some chores I have little time for my boy and girl. I miss playing with him. And when I hear him giggling happily with my ILs I wish I could join him. But alas the chores can’t really wait cause otherwise I will end up sleeping late and I have to wake up early every working day. So I’m in a constant struggle. How I wish I can work on a part time basis. But my work don’t allow. I guess I can only treasure the time I have with him on weekends.
